Your first thought is that this is just a really BAD DREAM but you soon realize that you are NOT dreaming and you are most certainly NOT on the set of the well-loved tv show, the Walking Dead. From the corner of the room, you see people with looks of desperation and fright as they huddle together in the darkness rustling through gobs of papers trying to find any kind of resolution to this crazy situation. You find that you are actually living the life of a teenager in a time where survival from Zombies is the new norm and in order to keep your brains intact, you’re going to have to use them. Luckily your recent study of linear relationships should help you and your team find all clues and solve all tasks to safely get out of the zombie infested school before it’s too late. You only have 35 minutes to breakout before the mob of zombies burst in on you and your team. Good luck guys, I know you’ve got this!

1. Print all of the pages in the resource file.

2. Use the invisible ink pen as follows:

-On the large graph (with the blue line and a slope of 1), write "What can you get from the graph of a line?" and circle or color the points (0, 1) and (2, 3)

-On the page with multiple graphs, write "+ is up," "0 is right," "- is down," and "undefined is left" somewhere on the page

-On the 5th journal page (with the shouting zombie who has outstretched arms), write "(xsub1, ysub1) and (xsub2, ysub2)" in the center/blank area in the middle, and "What's the slope formula?" at the bottom

-On the 6th journal page (that says "Journal Entry of a Teenager #3), write, "Use table to create equations of the line" beneath the table.

3. Staple the journal pages together to create a booklet.

4. Inside the small box, place a CLUE to the location of the UV light, the Journal booklet (from step 2), and the graphs (rolled individually to look like scrolls). Attach the ABC Multilock.

5. Place your signs inside your large Breakout EDU box. Attach the hasp and the three-digit lock, four-digit lock, key lock, and directional lock. Hold on to the key.

6. Hold on to the page that says "Okay it's crunch time." You will hand it (along with the key) to players once they show you the correct equation on their tracker sheet.

7. Read the story or play the intro video (https://vimeo.com/breakoutedu/acetheslope) for students, launch the facilitation tool, and begin the game.
